On the 8th of February 2017 Blue Jay sat down together with different companies to brainstorm about the future of domestic drones in the healthcare sector. The brainstorm was an initiative of Blue Jay Eindhoven and Health Innovation Campus in Veldhoven. The companies who attended the brainstorm where Health Innovation Campus, RSZK ZorgProfessionals, Slimmer leven 2020, VisitU, Accenture (Princes Maxima Ziekenhuis), Maxima Medisch Centrum, Bartimeus and Rijnstate.
The aim of the brainstorm was to find potential use cases for indoor drones with the help and insight of specialists. Also, the aim was to connect with different healthcare specialists and involve them in our project and domestic drone community.
Based on the outcomes of the brainstorm and the pitches during the day, Blue Jay made a conclusion.
For Blue Jay, the concepts in the long term care would be the most interesting to work towards. The longterm care can benefit the most of a domestic drone. Some arguments for this choice are:
• The social aspect of a domestic drone are important in the longterm care
• The ageing population is a big problem, in which a domestic drone can really add value - this because of the increasing workpressure of care givers and other sta
• Hygiene is not that big a problem for a domestic drone comparing to a hospital setting
• Activation of the patients (for example by a domestic drone) is more needed in long term care than in a general hospital setting (but for kids who stay longer in a hospital, a domestic drone would be beneficial!)
